Are you and your family looking for shelter? Please know that you are not alone. Emergency housing can seem like a step backward, but with the right tools, it can actually be an important step towards lasting security for your family.
In order to be accepted as a guest at Family Promise of Southwestern Pennsylvania, you must have minor children in your custody and you must be currently homeless or about to become homeless. FPSWPA does not always have space, but we are happy to speak with you and advise you of your options. Call us at 412-921-2916 (Pittsburgh) or 724-229-1129 (Washington).
Families accepted into our program are held accountable for their time and money and are expected to actively seek housing and jobs. Guests must be willing to live in a family environment supervised by volunteers and are expected to treat volunteers, other guests, and staff with courtesy and respect. There is absolutely no fee for our services.
You are not allowed to drink alcohol or use drugs while in the Family Promise program. We do not accept guests who have a legal history of violent crimes or crimes against children. We do, however, accept guests with other legal records and we evaluate on a case-by-case basis. We do not have the ability to keep your family safe if you are fleeing domestic violence.
Family Promise serves families regardless of race or religion, and individual volunteers and churches are not permitted to urge their religious beliefs on Family Promise guests.
